Fable is a story that teaches a moral or a lesson. It often has animal characters.

Fantasy novels are often set in worlds much different from our own and usually include magic, sorcery and mythical creature.
EX: The Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling
Folktale:-
Folktale is a story that has been passed down, usually orally, within a culture. It may be based on superstition and feature supernatural characters. Folktales include fairy tales, tall tales, trickster tales and other stories passed down over generations.
EX: Hansel and Gretel
Legend:-
Legend is a story that has been handed down over generations and is believed to be based on history, though it typically mixes fact and fiction. The hero of a legend is usually a human.
King Arthur and the Roundtable
Myth:-
Myth is a traditional story that a particular culture or group once accepted as sacred and true. It may center on a god or supernatural being and explain how something came to be, such as lightning or music or the world itself.
EX: The Greek story of the Titan Prometheus bringing fire to humankind
Science Fiction:-
Science Fiction stories examine how science and technology affect the world. The books often involve fantasy inventions that may be reality in the future.
EX: The Left Hand of Darkness,by Ursula Le Guin....
Essays:-
Essays are a short literary composition that reflects the author’s outlook or point. A short literary composition on a particular theme or subject, usually in prose and generally analytic, speculative, or interpretative.
Drama:-
Drama is the genre of literature that’s subject for compositions is dramatic art in the way it is represented. This genre is stories composed in verse or prose, usually for theatrical performance, where conflicts and emotion are expressed through dialogue and action.
Poetry:-
Poetry is verse and rhythmic writing with imagery that evokes an emotional response from the reader. The art of poetry is rhythmical in composition, written or spoken. This genre of literature is for exciting pleasure by beautiful, imaginative, or elevated thoughts.
Humor:-
Humor is the faculty of perceiving what is amusing or comical. Fiction full of fun, fancy, and excitement which meant to entertain. This genre of literature can actually be seen and contained within all genres.
Mystery:-
Mystery is a genre of fiction that deals with the solution of a crime or the unraveling of secrets. Anything that is kept secret or remains unexplained or unknown.
Realistic Fiction:-
Realistic Fiction is a story that can actually happen and is true to real life.
Short Story:-
Short Story is fiction of such briefness that is not able to support any subplots.
